My Balanced Life

For all those parents, spouses and people out there who have taken the world on their shoulders and might need a little help balancing everything out. My name is Willow Tierney, and I am a military spouse, mom to two kids- one a pre-teen and one a teen, career women, and currently working on a second Master’s degree. When it comes to taking on the world, I always seem to take on one more thing than I should and have to re-evaluate how to make everything work.

I have always been interested in writing, and always get distracted by new plots I’ve thought up or different ways I could have researched and wrote an article or paper. My first love is history, followed closely by advocating for military families, and women in general, and then writing fiction. As I raise my children, and read blogs, opinions, and of course, meme’s I was struck about how much I wanted to write and share my story with those who feel alone or misunderstood and just want to vent sometimes. Because we all need a chance to vent and find someone to relate to share our experiences.

With this blog, I want to share how I have balanced my life with my multiple commitments, how to say no to new projects, how to take on the unexpected and knowing myself, I will also go off on tangents about issues in the world, and what my kid unexpectedly decided to bring home in their backpack. Due to my military background, I will also share what it means to raise military children, to be a working spouse in the military community, and how to make a military family’s life a little easier- either through organization, how to get out there and make friends, or even how to deal with separation. Sometimes I will delve into sticky subjects, and I want to hear people’s opinions on those subjects. If they can be backed up with facts, I will cite my sources- I ask that any readers contributing to the discussion, do the same. This way we can all learn a little more. Knowledge is key and learning should take place everyday.

I want to give my readers a sense of community, a sense that they have somewhere safe to express their opinions, and know that when I express my opinion, I am not judging anyone. I just want everyone to be a little nicer, a little more understanding of those around them and help each other out as much as possible. Most of all, I really want to give a voice to those who take the world on their backs and just need a safe place to vent their frustrations and opinions. Thank you for joining me on my blog, and I look forward to getting to talk to all of you!

Just Breathe…..
